They are two seperate, two very different movies and 1982's movie remains the faithful adaptation. The prequel was a fun surprise

@outsidetheboxinside They said they wanted someone who wasn't going to be compared to McCready so they used a woman. They THEN made the analogy with Ripley. I don't get why it's such a big deal that the central character is a woman. Oh that's right, I forgot women can't be scientists!
