Not long after his discharge from the army in early 1960, some of the finest musicians and accompanists were assembled in Nashville's famed Studio "B" to continue the recording career of Elvis Presley. Among them were Floyd Cramer on piano, Boots Randolph on sax, and The Jordanaires. The recording session that produced this cover of the 1954 Drifters' hit "Such A Night" occurred before Elvis resumed a film career that would change the tenor of most of the music he would record the remainder of his career.

  • was this a live broadcast ?

  • @TheLyricalGenie85 No, this is an actual recording inside the studio itself. I'm sure there are a lot of "master tapes" like this which exist that contain interesting comments made before and after the recording begins.

  • This song"such a night" is my favorite of the early Elvis songs,I loved it the first time I heard it.

It was when Elvis;s voice was so smooth and clear....just perfect!!!!! It's no wonder Hollywood used it in the movie 3000 miles to Graceland.....with Kurt Rusell.....singing such a night at the end of this movie................

  • Damn, He was good. Madonna on the other hand need 500 dancers & fancy props to sell a song.

  • @doowopman49 Agree, you can hear clearly how Elvis evolved a style per song, even Lawdy Tawdy Miss Clawdy 1st take to the released takes are vastly different, Elvis was the most unerated PRODUCER the world has ever seen..He was from another Galaxy..

  • @COYOTE165A Amen to that....

  • @COYOTE165A I'd imagine it was Dj, but not sure entirely...
