  • du grand gegene

  • Lennon´s fav tune . Keep on boppin Gene , forevva !

  • Gene and Jerry lee are the best!

  • @jazzy2blue

They tried to "update" the sound & arrangement - would not call it shitty but the original is much better I have to agree plus it is live. I think the Bluecaps sounded live very different in the 50's than on record since they did not use the upright bass but an electric one because it was easier transportation wise& needed less room (plus it was a relative new invasion-do not forget what now is nostalgia was once modern or even avantgarde :-)

  • @2011framat I said that in rock history, it was Gene Vincent who first donned the all black leather and silver medallion stage gear that's since become a punk rock and heavy metal hallmark. Link Wray is an underrated rocker.

  • @willpn100

He surely was not "earthier" than Tupelo-born Elvis who covered songs of bluesmen like Crudup, A. Gunther, Roy Brown,Kid Emerson.Link Wray was dressed in leather long before Gene & the leather dress for Gene was btw an idea of a british impressario who was surprised how "tame" Vincent looked compared to his energetic Rock&Roll sound.I have to agree that early-Gene had a better sound on record than Jerry Lee (and especially Carl Perkins) equal to Haley,Holly&Elvis

  • Bowie copied the stance !

  • i love gene vincent but this version is shitty. or so so............nothing compare to the real one with blue caps!

  • This was released just before I entered junior high. This, and "Summertime Blues" came out about the same time. Of course, you realize that this is not the original version. Poor Gene never achieved the success that everyone thought he would. Made a go of it in England but never could follow up with anything big here in the states. And, like many others died too early.

  • @MrMikerocker Try the website Hard to Find 50s and 60s Rock and Roll. Thats where I got mine.Hope its a help.
