@royaljatti "Spunge Baths" and similar ways of washing up were far more common a century (or more) ago than nowadays. Remember, running water was still a recent invention for most people and baths/showers were far more rare than now. That made for personal cleaning habits different (for the most part) than today, even for those that might have had water and baths.

This story is hilarious. No actual crime. No blackmail. No abduction. Happy end. And yet the plot is well-wrought enough to captivate the viewer.
