@LadyBludgeon I said it in one of my vlogs, this cartoon came out when I was in my early teens. So maybe I was too old to "have fun" with it. By this time, I had already seen some badass full length cartoons that were more adult oriented. Hey Good lookin, Watership Down, Heavy Metal, A Mouse And His Child. Even some Disney films were more grown up than this. So I always found it insulting when The entertainment industry gave us this slop because they thought kids couldn't handle deep subjects.
@LadyBludgeon did anyone in the comics that you mention, ever ask how is it that these robots are sentient & have emotions? Seems to me that if we were to find such a thing, it would cause us to re-think our philosophy on what qualifies as a living being. They did that constantly with Data from the Star Trek NG series. Or am I asking too much from this simple story? It just seems odd that no one is curious about the TFs origin. They meet them & its like "Oh, robots with emotions. Whatever."
@haloprime360 & @LadyBludgeon. Bay's films suffer the same problem all other TF stories do, that keep me from becoming a hardcore fan: All the humans & most of the Autobots act stupid, causing me to route for the Decepticons. Even in part 3, whether its a main character, or some schmoe we see for a few seconds, they're either idiotic or are complete scumbags. So by the time they start torching the humans, I'm like "COOL! KILL THEM! YEAH!" and then "WHAT? the Autobots win again? DAMN IT!" lol.
@LadyBludgeon I liked how in the G1 comic, the military shot at both Autobots & Decepticons when they fought. Kinda like bouncers at a bar, not taking sides & saying "Get out & take your fight elsewhere! We want no part of it!" I wish Bay did the same thing. But they could never seem to keep the same writers & artists to work on it. I could be wrong, but its my understanding that they didn't want their talents wasted on a commercial gimmick. & both series suffered greatly because of it.
@LadyBludgeon I'm not a big comic book reader, so I can't say anything about them, except for the G1 comic series. It had some elements that I wish were in the G1 animated series, but it had just as much nonsense in it too. The artists couldn't seem to make up their minds on what size to draw them or if they should look like the actual toy or more stylized from panel to panel. One thing I liked about the comic series is the military not siding with Autbots, & fired at BOTH factions.
@LadyBludgeon Anyways funny video. LOL Always found that part pretty hilarious. ^_^ I always found Optimus Prime to be funny in the cartoon shows. If you want a more deep Optimus Prime I suggest you read the IDW comic series "Ongoing series." OP really gets all philosophical in that series and Megatron messes with him while being held as prisoner. LOL BTW Megatron volunteered to be captured in the series. He wanted to see how OP slowly loses it with the humans. >:) Just so eeeeevil.
"I think the best thing to spawn from this mess is The War for Cybertron games." Really just that game? Ever read the comics? IDW has taken them quite seriously. Just look at the All Hail Megatron series. Skywarp bombs & annihilates a big part of Beijing, China. That's taking them seriously. The cartoons were never made to be serious. Their targeted audience are young elementary kids for crying out loud! Comics is another story. Some stories are too dark/ deep for young kids to fully understand.
@haloprime360 I know what you mean. Though I wouldn't use the Transformers live movies as a point. In fact the Bayformers would be deem as the biggest hiccup of the whole genre. With that said though I do like TF 3. Mr. Bay REALLY behaved himself in making that final installment. Anyways a stronger example to use would be the comics, which Natedog033 has totally overlooked. There are strong, hardcore moments in those, especially the IDW comic series "All Hail Megatron" & "The Ongoing Series".
@haloprime360 I don't completely hate them. The idea has potential, but no one's taken them serious enough to omit the stupidity that follows this concept . & if you notice, my TF videos & parodies aren't really very nice. The scene of Optimus playing B-ball inspired me to make this vid. Come on, giant robots playing ball? At least Leader-1 never putzed around knowing his enemies were lose. I think the best thing to spawn from this mess is The War for Cybertron games.
