Ron Paul talks about less power to the federal govt. which would allow states to make there own laws. THis is closer to what is known as green grass politics. It allows people living in an area to make there own laws. laws which will affect them as a whole. Do some research you fucking idiot. Ellen Frank appears to be advocating the Government interfering with 'volatile' markets to make the lives of everyone easier and more stable. First, if everyone is aware of real prices and keeps on top of it then we become a well informed public less likely to be exploited. Should speculators cause shortages and price rises they will know they are putting out of work the very people who would be buying from them in a less speculative market place and therefore this would act as a 'cap' on greed.

We all know the Financial Meltdown started with Rubins repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act separating Investment Banks (Goldman Sachs etc), from Commercial Banks (the one you have your checking and savings account with). Glass Steagall was designed to prevent the Investment Banks taking excessive risks and jeopardising the whole system. It worked perfectly for 70 years, irritating the Investment Banks who wanted huge risks/profits, burst the bubble leaving Taxpayers to pick up the Bill.
