  • This is nice...can someone put up videos of the female version of this dance. I wanna learn so badly.

  • some will be up shortly. in the next day

  • This is an Efik dance it is from Cross River State not Akwa Ibom! and the proper name is Ekombi! It is not Ibibio at all!!! and the singer is singing in Efik! the two cultures though close have distinct differences, the main one is the language, the accent, the cuisine, and of course our music and dance styles!I schooled in Ibibio land, and the dance and music is very very very different from Efik or Calabar music. I am Efik, proud to be and big up my culture to the max!!!!!

  • never really been good wit spelling

  • was this at the akwa ibom house in atlanta?

  • yeah it was

  • I Been There Before , Thats At The Akwa Ibom House

  • Is there any material on the web regarding the origins of the Efiks from Uruan? When was the last time the Uruans installed the Obong of Calabar, why was it stopped?

  • AWESOME..LOL..

  • The Efiks are Uruan people. The Efik language is actually Uruan version of Ibibio as opposed to the more native Ejagham (Ekoi) among whom they settled. Until recently, the Obong of Calabar had to be installed by Uruan, at least that was the case in the old days, when I was in Hope Waddell and there was a new installation(1972). Although this fact might be unpalatable to the younger generation of Efiks, especially those who are too young to have read EN Amaku. Both people should be proud

  • ekmobi itiat ntokon....enye ke edi. eye ndikut-o.

  • I'm bout to master da dance and give u a run for ur money. NICE MOVES BRO.

  • It's possible, that Efik settlers, took it there,as well as other aspects of Efik culture, but Ekombi,is a typical,if not national dance of the Efiks!

    PEACE!!!

  • I thought that people from Uruan in Akwa Ibom have a similar culture with efik people and they also dance this same dance.
