BP Oil Spill Video/Poem- The Fisherman and the oil...

Many fisherman and their families have been dramatically affected by the BP Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Some fear that they might not even have enough to feed their children. Please share this video/poem.

The fisherman and the oil...

How will I feed my children?
How will I keep them warm?
Everything I know has disappeared
after my own kind left the ocean harmed.

They said help was on the way
but days go by and I sit and wait.
All broken promises and lies
as me and my family hold on to fate.

A partial check from the guilty
doesn't make up for what we have lost.
Makes me wonder what they would do
if their families suffered for the same cause.

For so many years
we have lived off the sea.
I was so thankful to Mother Earth
for being kind and feeding me.

But they have destroyed our waters
and have brought a slow, merciless death.
I feel like a fish out of the water
as all these worries take my breath.

Boats are tied up
engines have stopped.
I keep praying for a miracle
sent from up above.

I have mouths to feed
and bills to pay.
But I also had dreams
that have been washed away.

I do not see an end
or light at the end of the road.
I've signed up to help
but I'm still waiting for a call.

I don't know what will happen
it seems the president doesn't care.
His family is safe and sound
with bodyguards everywhere.

But my situation is different
and my family depends on me.
And to be able to provide for them,
I depend on the sea...
