OOoooo I love it. I once tried to photograph this noisy seething bush of them beside a bore. I only had a polaroid camera ... and when the photo popped out it didn't look as though there was a single bird in it. I love your clip. Thanks.

As a Zebra Finch owner, this terrifies me :-p Hearing that characteristic "beep" coming from a flock of wild birds is still really amusing.

you would think the person doing the filming would've had the good sense to open the goddam faucet a little!..the poor birds were sipping mud!...imbecile!!!

When you first posted your comment about my Zebra Finch video, I thought you were joking. Now that you've submitted it again - several times - I see that you were serious.
1) The only reason there was any water on the ground was that I had held the faucet open for a while.
2) The way these faucets work in the outback of Australia is that when you let go of them, they close automatically.

3) If, by some means, I could have held the faucet open, then there would have been no water for the birds the next day. Water is a very scarce resource in those parts.
4) It is in fact not mud they are sipping, but clear, clean water. Very much the same as when birds drink from a puddle of water left after a rain shower.
