'Tis by Thy strength the mountains stand,
God of eternal power!
The sea grows calm at Thy command
And tempests cease to roar.

The thirsty ridges drink their fill
And ranks of corn appear;
Thy ways abound with blessings still,
Thy goodness crowns the years.

Traditional shape note song composed by Timothy Swan (1785), with words by Isaac Watts (1719).

Recorded at the 13th Annual Harrod's Creek Shape Note Convention, Brownsboro, Kentucky, on April 27, 2008.
