Thanks! A DPU is a Distributed Power Unit. That is the locomotive(s) in the middle or on the end of the train that act as helper units to push the train and reduce coupler tension.

awesome video, when i was in kansas city on the southwest chief, while we were stopped at the station there was a ton of trains at this exact location! it was pretty cool seeing union pacific for the first time of the entire journey and a ton of other stuff and the entire kansas city area was cool, the industries, argentine yard, union station and all that
