  • The thick white plastic looking part was a Teflon plate (not new or exciting). The clear film he removed was a polymer who conducts protons but insulates electrons and separates the fuel (hydrgen) from oxygen. The significance of the preparation method is that the film is thinner than most, lowering the ionic resistance of the membrane and increasing the efficiency of the fuel cell.
