Dear WoseyPosey. Thank you very, very much ... I almost gave up hope for an useful answer. I know it's an awful sticky piece of music and there are lots of better ones in operas, radios or lifts ... but somehow i like it ;-).

Interesting facts I found on Wikipedia:
Charmaine is a popular song written by Erno Rapee... The song was written in 1926 and published in 1927.
