my mom told me whenever you get any anaestasia you shouldn't get nervous because nervousness kills the effect of anaestasia. but i am really nervous about it! huhu!
hey, i also got acute glumeronephritis, and my doctor wanted me to get renal biopsy and to tell you honestly i am frightened.. anyway i am a filipino, and i was suggested to have my renal biopsy in NKTI.. i just wanted to know does it really hurt? my doctor told me that i will be admit by the hospital for 2 to three days..
@rulopotter1: yes I did leave i the same day.. I had the procedure done in the morning and I left in the evening, coz they asked me to lay down for few hours and they were taking urin samples for few times to make sure that my kidney is alright after the procedure.. Dont worry, just relax and dont thnk too much about it.. u'll be fine.. good luck!
To respond to a question posed by rulopotter1, the kidney biopsy of a transplant kidney is easier as the transplant is very close to the surface. The decision to be sent home the same day or to be kept overnight usually depends on the pre-established policy by the hospital. There really should not be any pain, especially for a kidney transplant biopsy. It's easier to do than a usual kidney biopsy. Many transplant patients get this done with no complications at all.
@BillMiya hi, so you say it's local anesthesia (that reliefs me a bit), but are patients able to go home the same day or should stay in hospital for sure ? (average), i'm having mine in a couple of weeks, bit worried, i mean, i had my kidney transplant last august, but my recent analysis said i had this proteinuria thing and doctor said i's going to have this biopsy... answer please :)
@82medical did you stay at hospital for a few days or were you able to go home the same day... i'm having mine in a couple of weeks and i'm a bit scared...
I had one done two months ago, aside from feeling queezy from lying on my stomach, it wasn't too hard to bear. It's a slightly unpleasant sensation, but not agonising pain. My doctor was incredibly supportive and went out of his way to chat and keep me relaxed.
Recovery depends on the person, but I was out the day after. Our hospital requires 24 hours bed rest, but I was was of the hospital after 18 hours. The only pain after that I had was like an annoying stitch pain in my side.
how did it feel
