@wannamoremusic ----- Argent formed in 1968, Petra formed in 1972, Kiss formed in 1973.

I myself prefer the Kiss version, however I find it annoying that several people post that either Kiss or Argent ripped this off, as you are claiming the original is still Petra.

Argent: 1973 (penned the song in '68)

Petra: 1978

Kiss: 1991 ('92 Bill and Ted)

If you don't believe me, go read Petra's own website history, or even try wikipedia, both have the band formation and release dates.

I hate that so many think that Kiss wrote this song. Neither do I like that people think Petra wrote it (even though their version is by faaaar the best). Argent are the true writers of this masterpiece :)

The version of kiss is a cover? I read the songtitle and it says "God gave rock n coll to you 2"

@smn3675 Praise God indeed! Of course, Alice Cooper's (Born Vincent Furnier) father was a preacher, so he'd probably been raised Christian and just didn't follow the lifestyle fully.

Yes, Argent did write. specifically Russ Ballard. Go to Wikipedia and search Russ Ballard. He wrote hits for MANY people.
