great video.. fantastic to now know that Hamilton is in preservation in her streamlined form in "the days of red and gold" livery at the NRM york i recommend you go there its a great day out!

@dm3830 There's "preserved" and "preserved". City of Birmingham is not in running order. I suppose you could say she's preserved in aspic. I'm also a bit mystified why you're in Australia "for God's sake". Are you a minister or something?

good old bill andrew driving duchess of sutherland and bob hart driving duchess of hamilton and i was on both of those great trips and a great day i would like to see them both back on the main line sooner than later so come on ray towell get your finger out and get duchess of hamilton back on the main line with duchess of sutherland as we both miss you very badly hurry up back

I suppose in a way I partially to blame for the re-streamlining of 6229 as I located and supplied to all two pre-war colour images of the streamlined "Coronation Scott" #6229 at the New York World's Fair of 1939 and 1940. I have been told the discovery of those images added some impetus to that pursuit of re-streamlining. Anyone care to exonerate me?
