First video of a little side project I'm working on. Not exactly fully functional yet, but getting there.

The goal: have an ambient light notification system that will pulse different color lights depending on what types of events have happened on my PC. Twitter @ replies, Facebook messages, and Emails would have unique colors assigned to them. This little ambient light would pulse those colors and provide a sort of passive notification system so I can have an idea of what is waiting for me without having to check the computer. These have been done before and sold commercially, but I figured it'd be fun to do it myself.

Right now, the arduino is running a test sketch to check the color and brightness of the LEDs and get an idea of how it will look in the real world. Once I decided on the final hardware design, I'll start working on the Python backend that will listen for the necessary events and control the Arduino.

Subpar video was recorded with an Evo 4G. Somewhat related, the makeshift light diffuser was the Evo 4G's box. Worked okay in a pinch.
