Cantabile de César Franck, Yvon Bélanger à l'orgue de l'Église/The Church of St Andrew and St Paul, Montréal PQ
The Church organ, Opus 1457 of Casavant Frères, St. Hyacinthe, Québec, was installed in 1932 when the present church building was dedicated. The four-manual consol controls 112 ranks of pipes, divided between the Chancel and Gallery of the Sanctuary.
In 1978, on the 175th anniversary of the formation of St. Andrew's Church, the congregation undertook a project to renovate and re-voice the instrument.
In 1992, the consol and pipes were completely restored and rebuilt by the firm of Caron, Gagnon, Baumgarten Inc. of St. Léonard, Québec. Several new ranks were added, including a zimbelstern and trumpet en chamade on the main solo organ. The electro-pneumatic action was updated with the most modern technology and a memory capture system of 32 levels was installed. The instrument is now the largest in the city of Montreal.
