I hope there are more people than just snobs who will be interested in this machine -- although admittedly that population would be big enough to make this machine a success.

considering first copy costs (higher the print-run the cheaper is each book) I don't think that it would be cheaper for best selling titles.
the major problem at hand: you can't browse for books as you do now, you need to know what you want. this would be a disaster for small publishing houses and books with only a small print-run. al those little gems one just stumbles upon because of an intriguing cover won't be found anymore.

Why? My Laserjet 4250 is below 1 Eurocent per page including paper. I have a video where i show it's being used to "pirate" academic textbooks :)

As I see it....There are a few GREAT advantages to this machine.
1. You only print the book that someone wants (not wasting paper and cost of books in a warehouse)
2. No shipping costs
3. Get books that are no longer in print.
4. Cheaper overhead means less cost for consumer and more for money the author (a win win)
5. This has GOT to be cheaper for schools and text books

Isn't it obvious? It's because there exist enough people who fit into the overlap of these two sets:
1) They read books.
2) Wouldn't be caught dead using an ebook reader.
