Quicktime Pro Tutorial
Changing Clip Speed Within A File:
To Slow Down Portion Of A Clip:
1) open the file you want to change.
2) select the portion of that file you want to change
3) copy selection. move cursor to end of selection. paste several times (each time = slowed by a factor of 1) to taste.
4) move start cursor back to the frame where you want the slow mo to begin.
5) choose add to selection and scale. this will lay the part you copied in step 2 onto the selected frames, thus slowing it down.
6) save entire clip with new name. or export to desired format, with new name.

I don't think there is a similar way to speed up a portion of a clip, without using a backing track as a temporary holder for the speeded up portion.

  • I figured it out. I wasn't moving the selector back, only the cursor.

  • @mooosestang cool beans man have a nice day

  • @floydstinkyboy it works fine on my computer, but uploading to youtube still doesn't work. It just plays the same piece of clip 4 times.

  • @mooosestang no worries. when you are done with the editing, you need to export the file. (i use these settings: .mov or .mp4 or .avi, H264 1920x1080HD bit rate 7500 frame rate 30).

this will create a new file, with only one video track and only one sound track. that is what yourtubes needs. as it is now, you have numerous tracks inside the movie container. youtube can only process one of them. apparently it is picking the wrong one.

  • @floydstinkyboy Thank you! It works as avi.

  • @mooosestang excellent! you are most welcome. now i wanna see your neww sloooowwwww mmmmmmooooooooovie ...

  • @mooosestang after you you are done pasting the portion you want to slow down several times, you need to move the selector buttons so they cover all of the several portions - then choose edit-add to selection and scale. so, if you pasted it say 4 times, you move the selector buttons to cover the original and the extra 4. then go edit-add to selection and scale (not edit-add to movie). that will slow it down 5x. okay?

  • I still can't figure this out. All I get is the same portion of the clip played over and over again.

  • @aZombieSlayer youbetcha.

  • Great tip, thanks for this upload!
