Follow young Earvin from the driveway where his father taught him the game, to high school, and then to Michigan State, where his Spartan team famously beat Larry Bird's Indiana State team in the 1979 NCAA championship game. The action quickly moves to the NBA and Johnson's storied career with the Lakers - playing with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James Worthy - vanquishing first Julius Erving and the 76ers, then Bird and the Celtics, on the way to five championships and the birth of a great dynasty.

  • @kingarthurz123 Are you kidding? I'm a Lakers fan but that Celtics team from the 1980's will forever be burned in my memory as one of the greatest NBA teams ever. Bird, McHale, Parish, DJ, and Ainge...enough said.

  • Magic and Larry...those two names will forever be intertwined. I didn't realize it then, but once they left basketball, it was an end of an era. Basketball would never be THAT GOOD again.

  • thanks for uploading,,,,,,,,, Magic and jordan are the only 2 legends of the history of nba

  • I remember the Pistons Lakers NBA championship in '88. It was then I learned Bill Lame Queer was the chief punk in the entire NBA. It was a highlighting moment for me when I got to see Robert Parish bust him up, Even so I wasnt a celtics fan It was cool to see Parish put him in his place.

  • it wasnt really fair for the celtics cuz lakers had 3 of the best players in the nba (magic, kareem and worthy) and celtics only had bird so it wasnt that fair but nevertheless goood game.

  • for 19 years, no one had repeated as champions, and then, for 12 years, no one couldn't wouldn't UNLESS it was back to backs (or threepeats in the case of the Bulls) lol great basketball

  • Magic Johnson = best laker ever

  • what music is this in 4:05

  • 80's basketball rivalries were the best!

  • I love that song that starts at 4:05
