"Your Sister's Clothes" by Pulp (with "Mulholland Drive" by Lynch) I was making a compilation of Pulp b-sides, demos and EP tracks from the era between "Separations" and "His 'N Hers" (this would be a 5 star album imho, a period where Cocker's b-sides were as brilliant and realized as his A-sides), and this song stuck out to me along with "Seconds" as being brilliant lost classics that should have been released as A-sides. Since nothing exists really for this song, I decided to thematically combine it with David Lynch's "Mulholland Drive", which explores the tense and surreal female identity crisis described in this song and in all the other "Sisters" songs from the 1992-93 Pulp era ("Babies", "Seconds", "You're a Nightmare", "The Babysitter", "His 'N Hers", "Shefield Sex City", "Inside Susan", "Stacks", "Nites of Suburbia", etc.).

  • By the way, I never thought this would happen to me, because I wrote off the "Suddan Gerri-Freaks" era Pulp music a long time ago, but I have fallen for this period of songs on second analysis and CDs I've made compiling "Suddan Gerri" (1984) up through the beginning of "Separations" (1989) have dominated my car listening the past month. Current faves are "Simultaneous" and yesterday I hit the repeat button after "There's No Emotion" (off Freaks). Hmmmmm.... :)

  • Thanks for all the feedback. Yea, it is a little flawed. The problem with YouTube is you get inspired when you are loving a song and get your ideas in that initial "rush". Then you put a bunch of time into it...and by the time you step back to look at it to refine it, you have to start all over again.

I am one of many who wish they would add a feature that would allow you to improve and replace a video without wiping eveything out and starting all over again.

  • THE SISTERS ep is the best of Pulp, by far. Those three tracks should have been a-side singles. They are to me, anyway! Combined with Lynch this makes an interesting composite

  • Nice vId!!!!!!!!

  • still great concept but I think it needs a bit more work

  • you're instincts are good, and there is a definite lynchian vibe about a lot of pulp videos, however the visuals don't go with the music, having no protagonist in the video (for example Justin Theoraux would have made a good JC stand in) makes the whole thing feel disembodied, Lynch's films tends to have a rather flat atonal soundtrack with gives space for the visual flair & slow pacing of his films but here it just doesn't work, also sequence at 0:20 v. pulp would've been great for the chorus.

  • Should've been a chart song for sure.

  • Wow! Very good.
