Airsoft replica of the Ed Brown 'Jim Wilson' special 1911.
Yes this is another Marui 1911 based project I just had to do.
Potted history:
Born in Austin Texas, Sheriff Wilson has been in law enforcement all his life going from patrolman to detective, detective sergeant, narcotics squad supervisor and finally to lieutenant with the Police department Denton, Texas. Then became Chief deputy of Denton Sheriff's Office. He now writes for 'Shooting Times' magazine as a handgun editor, he retired from law enforcement back in 1996 when he was Sheriff in Crockett county, Ozona, Texas. Well respected in the industry for his commonsense, attitude and writing, I suppose it was only a matter of time before one of the manufacturers decided to build a 1911 model based upon his input. However when it happened it was iconic manufacturer Ed Brown. Sheriff Wilson has a lot of respect for Ed's work as he owns one of his 1911s in .38 calibre.
The project:
The basic pistol is an MEU from Marui which has had the markings sanded out and the forward cocking serrations on the slide filled and sanded down then sprayed black. The grip safety was replaced with a 5.1 type which is an Ed Brown design anyway. The 'Kings' style Ambi-safety was swapped out for a Tanio Koba ambi-safety, which has been modified to a single type. The barrel was painted silver after having its chamber markings filled and sanded then re-engraved with 'Ed Brown .45 Cal'. The barrel bushing was polished to bare metal and engraved with 'BROWN' marking.
The hammer was replaced with a black 4.3 style commander type. The fore sight was replaced with a Dytac night sight version (the set for the MEU is £19 from Elite Shooting, damn good value I think). The MSH was a standard TM 1911A1 type which came from my spares box, this had all the chequering removed via grind stone, then re-cut with a hack saw to make serrated lines as per the Colt series 70 type as fitted to the real steel Jim Wilson pistol. This was then under coated and sprayed black.
The slide lock had the flush right side end removed and a standard TM 1911A1 rounded type fitted, thereby keeping the serrations to the lever but having the correct real steel rounded end fitted. The grips are 'Faux Ivory' as per real steel, this was achieved by first sanding down then spraying white a set of standard TM 1911A1 grips.
Conclusion:
This pistol is a dream to shoot as any Marui MEU is, its accurate, ergonomic and with regards reliability, this will be for-filled in time im sure. Of the two Ed Brown pistols ive made this has to be, for me, the best looking....gorgeous.
Any questions leave a comment or PM me.

@mafiosi1996
Its a custom built gun so there isnt another like it in the world, other than the real steel version.
But if your after the pistol that I used as the base gun and customizing it, then try a Tokyo Marui MEU 1911.
Do a Google search and see if there is a, local to you, airsoft supplier ;-)

@SuperSneakySteve
You cannot shot people with a real gun legally though so i'll stick with the airsoft ones ;-)
Seriously though, im not into 'real steel' gun handling but just like building and the history behind the weapons themselves. Airsoft allows me to fullfill both areas at not to high a cost.
