Great looking update for my favourite game of all time. Your right what the old games lack in detail they make up for in playability and in my opinion that's far more important. The CM3 were the perfect level of detail I think, but this game was so fun. Where can I download your update?

@WhimsicalPirate I'm the same. I enjoy playing CM93 with the original players; the genius of Nicky Summerbee and George Ndah! Saying that, I am really impressed with the effort you've put in here. Bravo!
It was amazing the kinds of emotion that this game could evoke. I've danced around the bedroom at a last minute winner before. :D

@bluetonic78 I am going to home just in order to play this fabulous thing. I've been also edited & updated it so many years. However, it is really too tough to follow up the current transfers and collect the data and also most difficult one is editing it on the game. So I gave it up. Thank you so much such a kind of share & gift for all fans of cm 97/98. However, I couldn't see and find the documents for downloading. How can I reach them.
Brilliant effort mate. For me though, the heart of the game comes from the players of that era so I wouldn't enjoy an updated version.
Things like Shearer always starting the season injured for 9 months and Toshack being sacked by Wales no matter what I remember too.
What a game. Seeing your team's colours flash up when you score; genuine "fucking get in there!!" moment.

@WhimsicalPirate Fair point mate. Originally I found the old data frustrating but over the past couple of years i've started to get a kick out of the 97/98 data purely on the fact that it's pushing 15 years old after all and retro is cool and all that!
There are various editors out there where you can change the default injuries to players but I never really bothered with them and just accepted Shearer was injured. I seem to remember that was against Everton in a daft pre-season friendly, too!

CM 97/98 is hands down the best version of the series, followed by 01/02. I agree with you Bluetonic78 that the Football Manager series just has too much going on. Why would I want to change the size of the pitch? The length of time to process a season is ridiculous, even if you gimp your game so you have 5 star performance! This is the best version and I respect your work, there was a community going a few years back for this version but as far as I know it died out! :-( Nice work.

@0nlydlb Thanks mate, yeah shame that community faded away but I guess it's to be expected. FM is just too complex - you mention the pitch dimensions, what's all that about?! It's way too involving - all I want is to buy and sell my players, pick the team and win trophies! Yes the game engine is out of date in 97/98 but with a few tweaks here and there it would be even better!
