can you give a context for each knot? Like what their specific functions are?

i love tying knots!!

I'm in agreement that the square/reef knot is not very useful. It's easy to remember, sure, but that just tempts you to use it for everything. It slips when you need it to hold, and it binds when you need to untie it.

in denmark we call the square knot a "robondsknob" normal people call it a double knot

The BSA teaches the “Overhand Noose” or the “Running Loop Knot” in Cub Scouts (refer to Bear Handbook for tying illustrations). I can only think of 4 other noose knots that would work about the same but would take more time and experience to tie.
NOTE: People who ask me to teach them how to tie the hangman's noose, are ether just expanding their tying skills or looking for counseling. I hope you will find the type help you need.

You should consider the Zepplin Bend. It faded from memory with the Zepplin - even Ashley was unaware of it, but it is FAR superior to the Sheet Bend for example (which can actually roll under enough tension) for joining two lines or making a loop.
Check out this video & you'll become a believer also. This bend should be in the scouting manual /watch?v=Givv9cBB_Hw
The square knot shouldn't be taught IMO. Too many have died using that wretched knot.
Nice video. Keep up the good work.

@kevjay777 Sorry, it’s a good knot to know but it’s not one of the 7 knots in the BSA handbook.
