Gameplay from Super Stardust by Bloodhouse, on the Commodore Amiga vintage home computer. Retro Gaming.
You can see the tunnel section in the next video, which is here...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crERfhja4SA

This is not a review, walkthrough, playthrough, or demonstration of my playing ability.
It's more a case of me speaking my thoughts while playing the games, many for the first time, and most for the first time in a very long time... so it's all a little spontaneous and random.
Predictably, as I never practice before recording, I usually play very badly.

Given that I am playing many of these games for the first time, and everything I say is completely off the cuff, you probably shouldn't take what I say overly seriously. The opinions that I express are my feelings at the time, but it's entirely possible that they would be different if I were to take the time to get to grips with the game.

However, given that these videos are intended to show that "first time experience", I believe they have some validity or merit.

  • Some trivia. It's made by a Finnish company Bloodhouse, now part of Housemarque. NOT Swedish demo coders as infesticon said.

Trivia part 2. The Princess, who the Professor kidnapped, is called Voi Levi as you see in the beginning. Voilevi (voi = butter, levi is short for levite, which means spread) was a brand name of margarine in Finland, until the EU forbid using the word butter in margarine/spread brand names and it became KevytLevi (light margarine/spread)

Oh how we laughed at Voi Levi ;)

  • @pundewhee I didn't know either of those facts. Thanks :D

  • Boo @ the time limit.

  • @laffer35 I'm not a fan of time limits myself, but in this case, it does actually add to the frantic nature of the game. It's also not so bad as it doesn't end the game when the counter reaches zero... it just gets harder.

  • Now this title had my heart beating a little faster. I think this is an AGA enabled game right? I didn't think it worked on a regular A500.

It plays a lot like a VGA-MS-DOS game I played a lot back in the day. Oh.... hey it is! Very similar.

  • @markvergeer There is a regular 500 version of this game, but this is the AGA version.

  • @SteveBenway I'm pretty sure there isn't an OCS/ECS version of this game. Maybe you're talking about the first Stardust title?

  • I should've watched this before the HD PS3 remake video you posted. This is a spectacular Asteroids alternative, though.

  • Oh yeah Steve put all ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ's in on the Password for a shit load of lives, it's the only way I've been able to complete it.

  • One of my favorites, had to find it via your channel though, for some reason it didn't feature your last 3 videos under my Subscriptions videos, You Tube gets crapper by the minute.

I agree best Asteroids rip-off ever, love the music too.

  • Interestingly I noticed that the sound FX of the siren you hear from time to time is the same classic siren sound known for its inclusion in Goldeneye 64.

  • Lol, clinched star wars opening there lol. Wow, those astroids are very good looking for an amiga :o)

  • @SteveBenway Hey thanks. If I come across a copy and when I get my A500's 3.5" drive working again I'll be sure to try it out.

  • This was a great asteroids clone. I always remember my mates mouths wide open when the tunnel bit came on cos back in the day that bonus stage looked absolutely amazing especially on a little old A500...
