@LieKiller Thanks, I haven't seen that one yet. That's one angry Fairmont.

Yep, that car is 4V swapped. Condemnation might have been to harsh a word. Yeah 3Vs can and do make good power but that was never what I argued against.
Here's the world's 1st 7 second 3V: /watch?v=dvWIQcBmWbU

@LieKiller Has anyone ever tried? lol. This is the MMR 7 second Stang I was talking about:(/watch?v=rnzjYe14u38) I'm not entirely sure but your saying this is 4v swapped? let me know. We're not too far off base LK but I just don't agree with your "condemnation". My original point was 3 valves 'do just fine' and I'm sticking to my guns. Even though they are on their way out, many people still have them and as this video and many other prove, you 'arent hurtin'. hehe

@SirtubalotTX A 3V will never make 2500 rwhp on gasoline, period. MMR doesn't have a 7 second 3V, Dana Cook's 180+ mph black S197 is 4V swapped. I should have said a 3V hasn't broken the 7 second barrier in a Mustang. The first 3V to make it into the 7s happened about 2 months ago and it was in a fox body FAIRMONT, 7.9 @ 170. 1000 rwhp with enough boost is possible with any decently stout engine, the condemnation is that 4Vs gets there a lot easier.

@LieKiller Let's say I'm in the game to make 2500hp.. am I going to choose 3valve heads? probably not. Does that mean that I couldn't make 2500hp with them? probably not. has anyone tried? Don't think so. Do you get my point? The POINT is this.. 1000+ hp is not difficult to achieve with 3 valve heads, bottom line and you can't argue that away. If I already have 3valve heads I'm not going to toss them unless I have a REALLY good reason too. (I.E. beyond stock class.)

@LieKiller Actually, Team MMR has one (stock chassis) in the 7s off the top of my head which is way below the 'low 8' barrier that you mention. I didn't mean to stick a hornets nest and definitely no disrespect meant but let me reiterate the point I was making: If I already have a 3valve, why would I go through all the trouble to swap it away when I can make 1000+hp with what i have? Silly really. As far as all the other hairsplitting? I'm taking a break.

@SirtubalotTX ...80 rwhp over the 3V despite being run with a TH400, which itself probably robbed 30+ rwhp versus the locked converter 4R in the 3V. Oh, and both were running Precision 76s with .96 A/Rs. When everything is kept fairly even keel the 4V offers significant advantages with boost.

@SirtubalotTX ...the 08 made 610 rwhp on 16 lbs and 16 degrees through an auto with locked converter, 670 rwhp on 18 lbs and 18 degrees. All on pump 93. The 03 Cobra made 690 rwhp through a TH400 (no lockup obviously) on 16 lbs and 16 degrees. Again, both 283 (.020 over), both 9:1, both running stock heads, both running stock intakes (Mach in the Cobra's case), both running kind of similar cams (222/222 114/114 in the 4V, 229/242 w/ VCT limiters in the 3V), the 4V was worth...

I agree the proof is in the pudding and the evidence shows us a stock cube 4V going 6.0 @ 236 mph in a 2,500 car, making in excess of 2500 rwhp on gasoline. The evidence also shows us that no 3Vs have broken the low 8 second barrier, even in a 25.5 chassis. I was involved with two comparable builds, an 03 Cobra with a 9:1 stock displacement/stock head build and an 08 GT with 9:1 with stock displacement/stock heads....

Under boost the 4V will offer significant advantages. The most powerful 3V I know of is making about 1100 rwhp, it's a BB/S with ported heads, 88mm turbo, etc. Stock cube 4.6 4Vs are in the 7s in drag radial type setups, 1000 rwhp is actually easy to come by for the 4Vs at stock displacement much less with big bore and bb/s.
