David Gergen on Late Edition: "We have had a redistribution of weath in this country, up." And he's right that it is a hollow argument by the Republicans to accuse the Democrats of socialism when they're all for socializing the losses of the banking industry and Wall Street.

  • I've never seen Gergen so fired up as he has been this election.

He and Bob Schneider are perhaps two of the most reliable analysists.

  • When will these *Joe the Plummer Republicans* realize that they're being screwed by the very people they're voting for. Republicans promise less government spending and they not only spend more than the Democrats, they run up the deficit, print more money, and lower the standard of living for everyone but the top 2 percent. McCain is trying to make the argument that Dems will raise taxes, but Repubs will devalue your dollar and devalue everything else you own!

  • it's a hollow argument to point out the flaws of the other side instead of addressing the issue.

  • I agree, one need to create jobs for the unemployed. Lots of people seems to forget that welfare, and or unemployment benefits cost money too. The only way to save money is to let people die of starvation, and that is no option.

  • Yes, I imagine just about everyone wants socialism to a degree. I frankly think the government should do more than most Americans think it should.

  • there are a couple x-factors: stupidity and laziness.

  • Gergen is the voice of reason.

  • I'm sick and tired of people bashing Socialism. Socialism is what the New Deal was founded on! Are people THAT stupid? No one thinks the New Deal destroyed the U.S. (and anyone who does doesn't know history).

  • Even in rich Norway you can find some less fortunate people, eventhough its the government intention to eliminate poverty. But our poor people are rich in comparission with the American poors. We do read foreign newspapers you know, and we do watch CNN, and we do watch 60 minutes and other documentaries. And yes, we hear John McCain/Palin speeches and we dont like the way he speeks about USA friends and allies. I say: thanks, but no thanks to friendship á la John McCain.

  • Im sick and tired of John McCain calling Obama a socialist and implying that Europe is socialistic. Our shops are full of luxury items that people actually can afford to buy, even in these financial troubled days. All my children are travelling abroad for their holidays at least once a year. How many blue collar Americans can do that? John McCain is deliberately lying about Europe in the hope to scare ignorant voters.

  • I life in Norway, and weve been spreading the wealth around for several decades, but unlike what many Republicans belief it didnt made mainstreet poorer, on the contrary, it made everybody richer. In my own family weve both blue and white collar workers, as well as a multi millionaire. As a grandmother of 3 young children I find it reassuring that all my grandchildren has the very same right to free healthcare, the same education and the same social benefits.

  • What's wrong with all you people - socialism is EVIL - (unless it's socialism for the wealthy, of course)
