Analyst Insight: Intel Earnings Previews with Adam Benjamin, Jefferies

Intel CEO Paul Otellini says revenue and earnings from the world's largest chipmaker will be double this quarter. Intel reports it's 2Q earnings in a couple weeks, on July 13th.

Intel's first quarter net income soared 288%, from Q1 2009, to 2.4 billion dollars beating the it's 2.13 billion estimate. Revenue for the quarter rose 44% to 10.3 billion. The company projected it's revenue for 2Q at 10.2 billion, which would be up 27% yoy.

Looking ahead at what can be expected from Intel's earnings release in 2 weeks is Adam Benjamin, Managing Director of Semiconductor Equity Research for Jefferies and Company.

What are your projections for Intel's 2Q report? Do you think they will meet their goal of 10.2 billion dollars in revenue?

Intel's revenue was up 44% in the first quarter, and projected to rise 27% in 2Q - do you anticipate such tremendous growth in the second half of this year?

The stock has been downgraded citing a weakening PC environment leading into the second half of the year. Consumer confidence out earlier this morning dropped futher than expected. Are you concerned about demand in the PC and consumer electronics market?
