You're right, it is a Class 73, they can run diesel or third rail electric. They used to do the Gatwick Express services on third rail out of London Victoria.

Hang on at 3:05 that loco has the letter E in its number. Doesn't that mean its electric?

As it was a diesel gala the kettle was having a day off and being cleaned out. There was a problem with Western Champion though, that was broken, I am not keen on them so I was happy to get a steam train instead!
