This is the published piano version of a remarkable piece written for the 2004 Japanese anime ' Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence' ( イノセンス ). The dolls of the title are androids in the form of young women. The director apparently wanted the music played on a giant music box, so a huge instrument - called 'Orpheus' - was bought. The piece was recorded in a studio, and the studio recording was played back in an underground quarry and rerecorded to give the impression of a huge space. The resulting track (on the OST) sounds rather like muffled tubular bells, and this piano version seems to be a very faithful transcription of the underlying notes. I have added a few dynamics where appropriate.

  • Thank you. I have not actually had the opportunity to see the film, nor have I come across "Princess Mononoke" - but I will certainly look out for it!
