I don't live in America, so i can give u a picture of what it's like abroad. Europeans have a rich sense of musicality and beats, Asians have a huge emphasis on vocal talent. Africans have great instrumentals and have unique voices (not amazing talent, but unique)

Jason Mraz, Michael Buble would be some of the Western singers that have made it big, and are still "truly talented". MTV just doesnt air good stuff because they don't think it'll sell. Abroad and out of america tho, it's different.
