1. Why does the media put so much emphasis on weight and is it superficial to do so?
2. Would you consider being slim an advantage compared to being larger?
3. Do you think the media encourages people to be unhappy with their body?
4. How do you feel about how the media portrays large people in comparison to slim people?
5. Should the media spend more time encouraging people to be happy with themselves whatever their size?

It's important to remember that "the media" isn't a monolith; for every apocalyptic OMG DEATH FATTIES channel out there, there are also many other media channels that work on lessening bias (because it's probably not possible to be 100% unbiased), on factual reports, on fairness and balance. The great thing about today is that it's far easier to participate in the media, *be* a media channel - and it's also in a sense a lot easier to reach out to people because it's not All or Nothing.

You're right, it's something that passed through my mind ever so briefly and I totally forgot to mention it!! We're producing media too - we're just tapping in to smaller markets with limited reach, but all the same, we can affect more individuals than "ordinary people" a decade ago could!
