My SCR tester made-from-a-flashlight will also test IGBTs and Mosfets. Add a 9 voltage battery in series with the gate lead. http://www.instructables.com/id/SCR-Tester-from-a-Flashlight/

  • I would earth the wristband first before putting it on, for the simple reason you have stated "wrong hole"

  • @zincdustdust

I stated "Don't stick it in the wrong hole", such as the hot side of the line. I was making a little joke. Actually, the banana plug won't fit in the slots of the plug strip.

  • 0:10 that's what she said

  • Hello is that considered a "NPN" or "PNP" thanks

  • "dont stick it in the wrong hole"- thats what she said

  • Is this device for regulating the voltage or just act like switch??

  • a schematic detailing your tester would go along way toward eliminating any ambiguity. Please and thanks.

  • @botronics Thanks for your video, but I have never seen someone ground themselves in an electrical socket, and that has a potential of being dangerous. A true ESD device will have a resistor with a very high resistance (10M or higher) between yourself and ground. This resistor is primary there to prevent any potential reverse voltage or current and causing harm to yourself. Its your choice, but I might reconsider doing that.

  • @john29302 Mosfets DO stay on after the gate is charged, hence they need a pull down resistor or complimentary switching device to discharge the gate. (N-channel FETs)

  • you can turn on the gate of the MOSFET by just touch the (+) and the gate in the same time and to turn it of you just touch the (-) and the gate :D

  • sooo those thingy,s are in mosfet AMP,s but what are those things ????

  • i thought only an scr would stay on after removing the gate voltage. why would you teach that it would stay on on a mosfet?
