Learning the violin starts with learning the basic violin notes on the A and E strings. This video shows the introduction to those two violin strings and how to learn violin. Once you learn these notes on the violin you can begin playing quite of few different violin pieces.

Playing the correct violin notes is important to sounding good on the violin. Because the violin is a fretless instrument, it takes correct violin technique of the fingers to place the fingers in exactly the right spots. This video shows you a beginner violin course on where the fingers should go.

Beginner violin students normally don't put their second and third fingers close enough when playing the violin. Make sure these fingers are touching as the 2nd and 3rd finger are considered half steps in D Major. This is the key that many beginners should learn when first learning how to play the violin.

Violin notes on the G are also very important to learn, but it is recommended that you learn this after you have mastered the finger placement of the A and E strings on violin. This basic notes introduction will be a great start for you as a beginner violinist, and to learn more on how to play the violin visit Michael's violin training website at:

  • @DickNixonArisen Thanks bro!

  • i was wondering would you recomen like putting some marks on the freadboard to know where to play the notes

  • @eldavison1 You can use stickers or there are also tools like "Finger Finders" which you can tape on the instrument. It is very helpful being that the violin is a fretless instrument!

  • @SkeletalClown yes and no. When I was taught by my professor. You will first use tiny tapes or pencil marks to know where to play. After that you feel it once you learn by ear.

  • Wow... and I thought guitar was hard... this is the real deal, playing by ear and no frets! One day I may have the guts to learn it, but for now.. where's my guitar .. ^_^

  • @spoon149 There is also tools called "Finger Fingers" which you can paste on your fingerboard that show you exactly where your fingers should go in different color schemes. This is certainly very helpful for beginners.

  • @stevosmusic I agree that it is good to focus on one instrument but I think it is also good to be versatile and have the ability to play multiple instruments. If you have knowledge of a previous instrument, it certainly does help you learn other instruments.

  • @SapphireCountryJewel This would be a slide of the note which is more a fiddle technique. For violin playing, you want to place your finger on the exact spot you are trying to hit and try not moving into the note unless you are trying to do a slide.

  • This is a really good video, what does moving your finger back & forth as you play a note do? It sounds different to me.

  • @SkeletalClown look up violin fretboard on google images and youll get a rough idea
