Part four of my Henri Toivonen movie.

"Toivonen"

Follows Henri Toivonens rally career from 1980 with Talbot up until 1986 with Lancia.
Althought Henri started rally in the 1970s he really started to make a name for himself in 1980 when he joined Talbot and had his first WRC victory.

  • I couldnt understand what he said when the reporter asked him "but it the same for evreryone isn't it?" at 14:40

  • @TheBulletproofer He said "but everyone dos'nt have a bannana car, we have the front in after the accident"

  • Just started saving Part 5 Guys. Fingers crossed my parents computer dos'nt crash. If it saves i'll try and get the other parts saved too. I can upload them then from my laptop. And then finaly start a new project (s)

  • Why no co-driver?

  • @hannas1234 Because that wasthe fomrat of the RAC rally back then. No practice allowed and no pace notes. There was still a co-driver but he had no notes to read just maps which anyone could buy, that they could guess the route with.

  • Henri should have been with audi

  • @sitag14 He always wanted to drive for Lancia though. He saw them as the best team, Peugeot considered him for 1984 while picking there drivers but. So even if audi offered him a contract i dout he would have taken it.

  • All uk rallies back then were on organisers marked up maps even the rac. That means they had a blown up stage diagram with the route marked on it with junction numbers. This was the reason why so many English co drivers sat with stars such as Henri on the rac rally, brought up on reading maps. Some of the best co drivers could read just as much info off the map as they could pace notes!

  • any chance you can put this on dvd marv.the group b and toivonen dvds i have are shite.

  • @Marvdogger Henri didn't go to Peugeot because they offered mainly testing and not so many events in -84 season.

I think for Toivonen (and Alén) the spiritual home was Lancia. They just fit perfectly there.

  • @Marvdogger To my knowledge co-drivers had also a road book given by organisers to spot junctions and so on.

  • @sitag14 if he was at Audi... he wouldn't died
