The problem with Sonata Arctica is that when I start listening to their songs...I just can't stop.

fuck the ones that say sonata is lame now... what's with that "stay with the standar power metal"? why can't a band take a path to and OWN style? I must say that i had to get used to the days of grays, but unia was not the case.. and Unia... has my favourite song: CALEB

@Tanekh I fear I must concur...

@Tanekh It's all gone, and I fear the game is over.
As someone who heard the Sonata Arctica albums in reverse, I've decided I should take a "shut up and let tony write what he wants, they're all masterpieces anyway" approach... because I've been consistently amazed by the overall power contained within his poetry. I felt like commenting because you're the first "I liked them better before Unia" fan I've met who doesn't just mindlessly rage whenever the topic is brought up :D

Quel logiciel utilisez vous pour pouvoir faire de telles vidéos ? Et surtout, comment les prendres d'un jeu, ces images ? =°

To all of you who says that Unia is a terrible album - are you serious? Silence and Unia are each others opposites, but they are my favorite albums. They show two totally different sides of SA that are both beautiful sounding and story telling. How can you not like Unia? I. Don't. Get. It.

I can only speak for myself but the reason I consider these two albums to be the "fall" of Sonata Arctica is that they abandoned their Stratovarius/ Power Metal roots and instead went with the slower, more progressive sound they have today. In doing so, I feel like they didn't just lose all their "catchyness" but Kakko also lost most of the energy you could hear in songs like Wildfire or The Cage. It's too careful and thought-through now. The "metal", the fire, is gone.

@Tanekh Tony can't sing so powerful anymore because he outpowered his voice throughout Sonata's lifetime. So he can't sing as high notes as before - well sure he can, but it would ruin his voice to do it too much.
They got away from the Stratovarius sound and created the new and IMO better and more unique Sonata Arctica sound instead ;)

Well, be that as it may, the fact sadly still stands :( And I am glad you like it, just because they strayed from my "great" zone doesn't mean that they don't deserve any creds at all.
