@Clocksangel - Assuming you're using simple analogue DC like your daddy an' his daddy before, it is better to have separate power supplies for each track loop - even better again to have each track section switchable to each controller. With DCC (digital command control), separating the track sections is unnecessary, but useful to help you isolate short circuits more easily.

Ok, im kinda new to the model train thing, I see three different tracks, do all three tracks run on the same powersource or are there more then one?

@Clocksangel It depends on the modeler and how much control he wants to have over individual trains and sections of track. Larger layouts often have multiple power sources and even working signaling/dispatching systems to control which trains can operate where.
