Hello there David! I have gotten more clarity from your videos in the last hour than in the 23 frustrating preceding hours but somehow am still no closer to being able to sync the LFOs and Arpeggiator in a USB-connected Moog Taurus 3 to MTC in Logic 9. I've verified that the synth is set to receive clock via MIDI. Am I missing something in the environment window? Thanks so much for all your help :)

my "Delay transmission by" = 0Ticks (in yr video it was placed on the very the right)
i had the music starting a bit before the movie, and finishing a bit later, i changed the start making the music start exactly at bar 5 like the movie (i didn't do it for the end) does it make a difference? in which case you must always start & end at the exact same time than the movie does?
help! any advices will be more than welcome! I must send it back quickly&im stuck!: //
thks very much 4yr help

I went into Synchronization > General > Sync Mode trying Internal, MTC or Manual, ticking the Auto Enable External Sync ; trying Frame Rates of 24, 29.97d & 29.97 ; Validate MTC : always or Jam ; i went to my IAC Driver and ticked "Device is Online" then in Synchronization > Midi > Transmit Midi Clock i ticked "Destination 1" with "IAC Driver Bus 1" ; and in MTC i ticked "Transmit MTC" with "IAC Driver Bus 1".....
and STILL THIS INVALID TIME CODE!!!!!!!

Hi there!i just finished composing&mixing the music for the ruff cut of a short film &went to export the audio to the movie......
at the end of the bounce, logic opens up a little window : "Invalid Time - Result Code = -2015 " !!!
so i have no idea of what is a time code!
I ended up finding your video, thank god you're here -thx again for all the other video you've put up : )- and since then i've been trying everything

Is it possible to SLAVE LOGIC from another source such an MPC or another computer / DAW...

Hey David! Thanks for all of your effort. This is a lifesaver both for me! About sync: Planning a show and the light-mixing-board only reads SMPTE. Is MTC the same thing? Could i send the MTC out from Logic? And how do i do it? via midi cabel? Ethernet?
Hey,
Thanks for this, just a quick question, (i may sound a little bit dumb for asking, but if you don't ask you dont get)!
So... why exactly is it worth syncing these devices, i presume to prevent delay? Is that it mainly, or can objects still work as a slave without midi time code or beat clock?? Or is it a necessity? I don't have any outboard gear except a midi keyboard, so not as familiar unfortunately.
Thanks,
Tash

hey Tash. Fo you, this probably isn't really important, but if you work in film, and need a music cue to hit riiiiight at the point when the car hits the wall, then you should know about time code. as for beat clock... well, if you had an MPC sampler or something that needs that kind of sync you'd need to know this. Otherwise, I think you're not going to need sync much.

thanks for the vid,
quick question, would it be harder to get a dead on perfect sync with a slower computer? i.e. having an mpc as a master, and connecting it to an older computer vs. a mac pro, would the mac pro get dead on timing, while the older machine would get a slight delay?...and are there ways to get a more accurate sync, through adjusting preferences or anything?

The sync shouldn't be affected by having an older computer, as long as the computer's processor is not getting overloaded by something else.

How about more on the Logic to Pro Tools trick? Can I get
Strike! to work with Logic? My life would be so complete...

Make an instrument in Logic to send MIDI to the IAC bus
Have Strike listen to the IAC bus
Sync PT to Logic via the IAC bus. Beat Clock works fine.
Set logic to Coreaudio, and you CANNOT use the PT interface at the same time as PT. You must use the internal driver, or a separate audio interface.
Run the audio from PT to Logic if you like through another 3rd party interface.
There you go.
