Cette séquence m’a choqué, car la fresque me semblait un des moyens les plus surs pour immortaliser les êtres peints. Le film « Satyricon » lui, se termine par une vue d’un mur en ruines où on voit les héros du film, Ascylte, Encolpe et Giton, représentés en fresque. C’est comme s’ils étaient vivants pour l’éternité. Dans « Fellini Roma », cette vision d’éternité se lézarde, elle s’efface en quelques secondes...

This kind of thing does happen, however, which is why the French government won't open up a larger entrance to the Chauvet cave. If only a few very skillful spelunkers with government permission ever see those paintings, well, tough, the rest of us will have to be happy with photos and film, which are definitely better than nothing.
