Golf Swing Spine Angle

This is THE most important part of the golf swing in my opinion (the spine angle). I tend to push my butt in at impact also, creating lots of toe-hits. Great tip.

The swings are roughly the same. The differences, of course, being ball position, width of stance, balance points, and body positions.
Good Luck and keep the questions coming if you are stuck.
Cheers, Steven

i found that if i use the same swing, but at address more weight is on my right leg and i have a slightly tilted spine angle, then at the top of the backswing turn the hips with the ball position forward... it seems to work fine
is the idea of having, in a sense, a swing for irons and a different swing for the driver ideal? only a few small changes like ball position and spine angle is different

The thrust used with a driver is more excessive than with iron clubs. To gain stability, you might be "losing your spine angle" while swinging down at the ball.
Try making some slow motion swings whilst staying in your posture. Slowly increase the speed until you can make a full swing at 70-90% speed and still maintaining your posture positions. If this does not work, seek out your local TPI golf professional to try and increase strength in your core.
Good Luck - Steven
My spine angle changes when i start my swing. It feels like I'm raising my whole head as I start my swing. My spine angle stays afterwards. Do you think i can fix it by making my stance more upright?? Thanks

@freak322able That could be an option. You will, of course, have to make an adjustment with your arm plane (more upright). Worth a try anyway! Good Luck, Steven

Steven, I have a problem getting the club too much from the inside on the downswing, this leads to pushed shots and frequent shanks. I would tend lunge towards the ball on the downswing and hit the ball very high with the driver especially. Any tips?

@slinger2k8 For your situation, I would make sure that you can separate your upper and lower body (almost like a Baseball swing....Step...Shoulders Back....and....SWING....sort of thing). If you can do that without problem, I would try some drills with a 2X4 or golf ball under my toes. I am not promoting weight back on the heels, I am more interested in becoming aware of where my swing goes off balance. Once you gain more balance, I would take away the objects and repeat the feeling. Good Luck!

Steven, Ive been having problems keeping my spine angle on the downswing especially with the driver, i tens to stand up coming into impact, resulting in high ball flight which is poor in windy conditions here in scotland. i've been trying to fix this by staying more over the ball, imagining my chest staying over the ball, problem is when i do this i end up slicing wildly and also have the odd shank with the irons, any tips? cheers steve

@sghowie I would continue to work on staying in your posture during the swing. If you find that the club face is open, work on the Toe Up drill to gain more face control. I have posted that drill in my page. Good Luck!
