Rancilio Nancy (old model it has same internals of Silvia) with PID and Nuova Simonelli Grinta grinder. Original rancilio single basket and a dose of 8 grams of coffee. 30 second of extraction with no tamp. The coffee is from the last beans of a supermarket 1 kilo bag.

  • I can't believe how well that went considering no tamp!!!!!! You should have cut the shot a little earlier and the flavor would have been better and need less sugar. It looked to Be blonding too much about 4 seconds before you killed the shot. What are your thoughts on the grinder? I have one and it does ok for me but never really heard other peoples opninions.

  • @statesmanls1 Actually i get better shots, i should make a new video, but the metod i use is still the same: no tamp. Sugar is a matter of taste, now i use less sugar. Yes, there's blonding at the end.

Grinder: i'm not entusiast, it has some drawbacks, i would buy another grinder anyway i got it for a cheap price and does the job.

  • 30-45 minutes of warm up? That sounds extremely frustrating. But what a lovely shot, you've got a great system going. I'm just finishing up research and hoping to get a Rancilio Miss Audrey soon. They look similar, do you know anything about shared internals?

    Thanks.

  • i use it with a timer (about 5 dollars) in the morning, so it's ready just when i wake up.

Audrey has the same internals of silvia and nancy. It has also a water level sensor that you can easily take apart.

  • I mean this in a nice way and out of interest, do you think you don't need to tamp is because you're over distributing and the showerscreen is forced to push it down a bit?

  • First of all i don't tamp because it gives me a better cup, this is the most important thing ;) Yes, i think there is the correct space between the coffee and the showerscreen so that it's pushed down a bit but not too much. Try dosing the correct amount of coffee in the double basket so that there is a light tamp from the showerscreen, grind finer and distribute the coffee evenly without tamp, maybe things works also with the double basket, i never tried it, i use only the single.

  • Honestly, how hard is it really to properly pull shots using a single basket?

Because that looked like the most half-assed preparation I've seen anyone do and the shot still came out nicely. (No offense, of course. It was actually pretty awesome.)

Hi there, can you send me a message with your email address and all the details on the machine, where you're located, etc? I'm interested, but my job is ending this week so I have to be very cautious.

    Thanks,

    Ben

  • @dlygrind

We own a Rancilio Miss Audrey that we rarely use. Are you interested in buying it?

  • I assure you that if you keep the coffee away from the shower screen you will have an even better result. This won't burn the coffee, the finer the grind the faster it burns and expands.
