I work for Johnson & Johnson and the pharma companies will NEVER stop innovating and making profits. Do you know how much pharamacueticals spend on advertising alone? Quit with the fear tactics! I got one for ya! Call any private health insurance company, tell them what you are looking for in a policy, then ask for a complete policy book before you give them a dime. Let me know how that works out for you. They are in the business of denying care. Death panels? That is exactly what PHIC's do!

PROBLEM: A PATIENT CURED IS A CUSTOMER LOST!! Modern pharmaceutical companies know this, it isn't in their economic interest to cure you!
SOLUTION: A healthcare system in which Doctors are paid only when you are healthy!!
A HEALTHY PATIENT A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE!!... Every body wins

American Medicaid & ER standards are of low standard and quality...2nd or 3rd rate service. I am SO glad that I am British and a European. Here in th UK & in Europe the genera;l standard of health of people is higher than it in in the USA. Life expectancy rates are higher, and infant mortality rates are lower, holiday entittlement is more generous, stress levels are lower, quality of life is better in the UK & Europe. USA = food stamps, soup kitchens & tent cities for the poor & homeless.

Being a Canadian, I have to say there are certain things about America I don't understand. However, I'm not here to pass judgement: it's up to the American people to demand what changes they feel are necessary. However, the corruption of Big Pharma buying off politicians is simply deporable. Perhaps that's exactly what people should be p*ssed off about!

Australian health care system:
Once a citizen apply for Medicare card-free
If sick see doctor, wave Medicare card- free
If you must pay, go to Medicare office to claim refund.
If really sick you will be sent to hospital, wave Medicare card- free
The only way you will pay is if a doctor says that this surgery is elective, i.e boob job.
This is funded by a Medicare levy that you pay with your income tax (%1.5) and if you have private insurance the levy is waived but your not entitled to any Medic

Acne is used to deny you healthcare? Kinda simplistic explanation of that one, really. Actually, pretty stupid. The list of single payer systems listed are all government programs where people are not given any choice.

This isn't a health care issue. This is a health INSURANCE issue.

@WaterChick70 wow, you've an idiot. Canada has a much better health care system than we do.

the solution is to increase the number of doctors/surgeons and dentists by a factor of 5 and bypass the AMA (american medical association) which is an opec like cartel keeping numbers low and prices high.
when supply goes up, prices come down.
any other scheme that involves creatively passing on the bill to some sucker to pay for it is just a crime.
Thanks to everyone who watched for making this Clash of Wings' first video ever to top 1,000 views!

Australia has both publicly funded "socialized" and private insurance. People who earn over a threshold have to pay higher taxes if they don't have private health care. I use private health care for going to the dentist and public for going to the doctor. Australian people are generally healthy, so prevention is more on government policies, like OH&S, illegal drugs, alcohol, road safety etc. Australia has neglected the indigenous Aboriginals, so that's contradicting in some aspects.

So what you're describing is an insurance mandate, which is being proposed right now and people aren't too hot about it. The public option may fill in the gap between single-payer recipients and private insurance recipients, but you can tell that this is going to get some people in trouble.
