African-Americans discuss racism in the US - 18 Oct 08

Earlier this week, Al Jazeera aired a story that captured the seemingly intolerant attitudes of some people who attended a rally for Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential candidate.

The story received more than one million hits on YouTube's website. But did their views represent a wider opinion?

Casey Kauffman, who filmed the original story in Ohio, showed it to some African-American families in Atlanta to gauge their reaction.

@garrett137 If that's true, then why are so many black men now being released thanks to programs like the Innocence Project that works on freeing wrongly imprisoned persons. I understand where you are coming from but you're misinformed. Yes, you might not see as MUCH racism from police in some parts of the country, but in the South? In New York? LA? Dallas? Dallas county, especially under D.A. Henry Wade, was one of the stars of corrupt judicial systems, with a motto of 'persecute at all costs'
