It's a myth that H&O became popular because of MTV.
This song, You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling, Kiss on my List & You Make My Dreams already peaked by the time MTV started in August 1981.

It's great to see this old video, but I NEVER understood who possibly thought this should have been a first single on an album that included "Kiss on My List", "You Make My Dreams", "You've Lost that Loving Feeling", "Gotta Lot of Nerve (Perfect Perfect), and "Everytime You Go Away". This is really a rather weak track by comparison. I think it is most significant for marking the last time in the duo's history when John Oates was seen as an equal partner by the record labels.

@Jules4286 I remember seeing this on MTV back in the day, always liked the video. It was cool then and it's cool now. It's always a pleasure when it's played live, a full-on John song, Daryl claims it as one of his favorites.
