Fantastic post! Always wanted to see this because of Bold 'n Determined's big win over Genuine Risk. Didn't know that Love Sign and Davona Dale were also in the race! Fantastic!

Thanks -- it's great to see Bold n' Determined getting the attention she deserves.

You can't fault the awarding of this year's divisional Eclipse to Genuine Risk for her Triple Crown accomplishments. But B n' D is one of the best ever not to win a championship.

She won 9 of 12 in 1980 -- seven of her wins in Grade I stakes. She won at Santa Anita, Oaklawn, Churchill, Belmont and Keeneland that year. This race was her only encounter with Genuine Risk, and B n' D carried 122 to GR's 118.

@tchas35 Bold n' Determined is often overlooked because she was from the same crop as Genuine Risk. In their careers, I believe Bold n' Determined won 7 gr.1 races while Genuine Risk won 2.

if memory serves me correctly, Bold n' Determined narrowly missed the filly triple crown that year......losing by a nose to Sugar and Spice in the Mother Goose.....
