I think, as far as I can remember, at the outset Patanjali defines Yoga as (one would probably refer to this as defn of Patanjali's yoga today :) ) - Yoga iti chitta vrtti nirodah,
Its a very simple definition and actually tells the student that its not attainment of some super human siddhi. Its just a simple thing. The translation is - Yoga mean cessation of mental waves (thoughts). A lot of westerners initially thought that cessation of thought means death or stupidity!

In essence...
Yoga means "Control of thought waves in a mind, hence cessation of mind"
Being in present harmoniously, to stay in this state of existence practice is required, one can't be there without consistency..
Today's turbulent times test you, practice this not to attain superiority on Yoga, but to attain on yourself.
Be peaceful and blissful remove the ignorant in you...
