  • that is the purpose of a concept car. Think in a totally different way about cars. For example the BMW gina, amazing idea. If only make cars that are produceable you will never come up with innovative ideas.

  • And what is the difference to what I said? I said it is both, in your first comment you said design isn't engineering. I believe it is, in combination with form giving.

  • function + looks = design

    example:

i love bmw, because of its engineering and looks and all what makes the driver feeling good.

today their design is horrible so i am not going to buy one.

so, without a good design your product wont sell.

  • I study industrial design engineering. Design is more then just giving form to something.

  • i dont really agree with you, because design isnt engineering. its mostly forming something which is attractive to (all) people. function is just a little part.

clothe designing is all like that. they are mostly all about looks.

  • i strongly agree....this is the reason why so many concept cars never make it past the car shows into production. besides just looking good there's alot of other things involed. passenger, engine, baggage space, aero dynamics,

  • Interesting, though the video's brevity doesn't really let us get a feel for your hypotheses, if any.

I think there's already entirely too much irrationality in concept car design. Concepts seem to fall into either entirely irrational but exciting "design lust" studies, or staid "next iteration" previews. I think there's an unexplored middle ground, avant garde yet grounded in feasibility.

Design is most interesting when it solves practical constrain problems.

    Keep drawing! :-)
