I wrote this song in 2000, in honor of the railroads 100th birthday celebration. The Black Irish Band was hired to perform for the big event and was flown to Alaska. The big honor came when we were in the Yukon for the ceremony at Carcross. The band performed for the Canadian officials as well as the staff of the White Pass & Yukon Railroad. The song is written in memory of Irishman Michael Heney, who built the railroad!
Featured on lead vocal is our Steve McArthur. John Baker performed on french horn, and special guest auto-harp was played by Tina Barr. The rest of the performers included all the memebers of the Black Irish Band. I played melodeon. The song is on our bands 9th CD, "Hear the Lonesome Whistle Blow" The the album can be purchased on CD Baby- go to www.blackirish.com
This has been added to our playlists here, and on facebook, thanks...
