The Ford City neighbourhood, east of Walkerville, is an old community that used to be a corporate town for the Ford motor company in the early 1900s before it joined Wakerville in becoming part of the city of Windsor. The community was vibrant as Ford employed 14,000 people at one point. In 1953 Ford left Windsor for Oakville, Ontario leaving only a casting an engine plant behind in Ford City. Since then Ford has built an additional, larger engine plant (Essex Engine) but it is in the far east-side of Windsor. Ford City is now trying to regain some of its original prosperity. A group called the FC Residents In Action Committee wants to renew the area by holding public events to raise funds to refurbish and promote the area as a fresh-start renewal community.
Thanks Mike for a great show, you are truly a great man for coming out to our event and posting it on YouTube. Now we can share our community spirit friends and neighbours .
Thanks Again
